Recognising Council Tenants Who Make A Difference

Do you have a helpful neighbour? Or is there someone who always goes above and beyond to make their community a better place?

Charnwood Borough Council is asking residents to recognise council tenants who make a real difference in their communities by nominating them for a tenant recognition award.

The event is organised by Charnwood Borough Council’s customer engagement team and takes place every two years.

Pete Oliver, head of landlord services, said: “The tenant recognition awards are all about acknowledging the hard work and commitment of our tenants to improving their communities. The input and enthusiasm from tenants and their willingness to work with our engagement team helps make a difference to the places they live.We hope that this is something that continues to grow in the future and we want to see more tenants getting actively involved.”

The categories for this year’s awards are:

The good neighbour award
This award is for someone who goes above and beyond what a good neighbour should be; they are a caring individual who always thinks of his or her neighbour.

The most improved estate/community/communal area award
This award if for an area which has been given a new lease of life or a drastic makeover which benefits residents.

Active tenant involvement award
This award is for someone who consistently engages with the Council through different involvement activities and is always very reliable.

Council staff will also be choosing a tenant to receive an outstanding/lifetime achievement award. This will recognise someone who has dedicated a lot of time and effort over the years to benefit local residents.

The awards are only open to council tenants but anyone is able to send in a nomination.

You can make your nomination on the Charnwood Borough Council website at www.charnwood.gov.uk/tenant_recognition
