St Mary’s Church, Barkby

We had a lovely time at our Macmillan Coffee morning recently, a great crowd came for a get-together and we made £405 for this worthwhile charity.
The Church was beautifully decorated for our harvest festival the following day, which made it a lovely idea to walk around and admire the food and flowers arrangements. After the harvest service the food was shared equally between the Glenfield Project (a children’s home), the Carpenters Arms in Loughborough, a place helping the homeless and addicts, and LOROS. The collection was given to Water Aid to provide clean water to those who do not have it already.
On Sunday 12th November at 6.00pm we have our Service of Remembrance with a burglar and British Legion flag bearers.
Our next event is ‘the biggie’ – ‘It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas – again!’ Taking place on the Friday 24th and Saturday 25th November,
We also have our Service of Light on Sunday 26th November at 6.00pm when the Christmas tree lights outside the church are switched on for the Christmas period. Each light has been dedicated as a remembrance of someone who has died.
Our Christingle service aimed at children from baby to 99+ is at 10.00am on Sunday 3rd December.
We look forward to welcoming you at one or all of our events.
