Syston in Bloom

October was a very rewarding month for Syston in Bloom. On 21st we held another highly successful Quiz Night at the Parish Church Hall. Well over 70 participants enjoyed an evening of questions, ploughman’s supper, raffle and auction. Over £600 was raised, which will be used to fund our planting, in particular at the railway station and Library.
The photo above shows Trevor Hodson with the winning team. Our thanks go to the Village Bakery, Gamble and Hollis, and Scott & Cathie for their generous contributions.
On 30th October, our Howard Midgley and Mark Dalley, from East Midlands Trains, attended the City Council’s Award ceremony for volunteer groups to receive Syston in Bloom’s Level 4 certificate for the work carried out at Syston Railway Station.
This is a tremendous achievement, and recognises the work that continues to be done by Trevor and all the volunteers to make the station an attractive and colourful place for rail travellers.

Syston in Bloom/Local History Group 2018 calendars are still available at the Post Office and Library – £4.00 each.
