Dear Editor
It was good to read the encouragement to ‘SHOP SMALL’ in the February issue of STN, especially when there are so many vacant shop premises in Town Centre, High Street and on Melton Road. Businesses seem to be closing almost weekly. Empty lots give our vibrant bustling Syston a rather sad and dismal look.
Please may we know what steps the Town Council is taking to re-invigorate the Syston Retail Offer and to attract the many new residents in the immediate area to ‘Shop Small and Local’? Syston has its own unique character and atmosphere – but are rents and business rates now too high for pioneering new entrepreneurs?
Yours faithfully,
J & R Craven
