Groups in Charnwood have been awarded over £20,000 to support local projects.
In the last round of grant applications for 2017-18, Charnwood Borough Council awarded funding to several community groups.
Falcon Support Services was awarded £8,000 towards an environmental project which aims to up-cycle products to make them into new, reusable items. The project will also help up-skill vulnerable people, providing them with new textiles, social and business skills.
Shelthorpe Community Association was granted £7,000 to support their community allotments. The project aims to encourage residents to live a healthier lifestyle, by staying active and healthy eating from the allotments.
Little Bird SOS, a Leicestershire-based group which provides wellbeing activities, was given £6,000. The funding will go towards an event to promote gardening for health and wellbeing.
Councillor Brian Page, Lead Member for Communities, Safety and Wellbeing said: “It’s fantastic that we are able to fund more projects that are doing great work for the community. We’re committed to providing services which develop our local neighbourhood and these grants are a great opportunity for us to support projects which share our commitment.”
