Update on Beatrice Hill

Following a long term injury, Beatrice has recently competed in two national gymnastics competitions. In February she travelled to Liverpool to compete in her first competition of the year, coming away as the Elite Grade Compulsory 2 Champion at the Quattro Angel of the North National Invitational.
On the 13th May, Beatrice competed in the Great British Nationals Finals in Stoke on Trent, competing against the best 11 and 12-year-old gymnasts in the Country. This was Bea’s first National Finals in nearly 18 months, following injury and so she was understandably nervous, added to that the requirement of passing the grade with a set score, in order to progress to the next grade.
Bea got off to a great start, competing on range and conditioning (designed to test a gymnasts’ strength and core) – securing 5th place in Great Britain! She continued with increased confidence on the remaining pieces – beam, bar, floor and vault, also notably placing 8th on vault and 5th on beam. Beatrice passed the Elite Compulsory 2 Grade with flying colours and placed 6th in Great Britain All Around – a huge achievement after a long time out.
We would like to thank St Peter and St Paul Academy, for all of their support with her gymnastics, given Bea prepares to move to Y7 at Roundhill Academy in the Autumn. We would also like to thank Charnwood Borough Council for providing a talented support grant to help her to keep progressing in her gymnastics.
