GCSE Success at Wreake Valley Academy

Students at Wreake Valley Academy celebrated excellent GCSE results. The number of students gaining good passes in English and maths rose significantly this year.
Several GCSE subjects recorded outstanding results, including maths, French, triple science and food. BTEC health and social care saw students achieve a 100% pass rate with over 60% graded at distinction or distinction star.
Many students achieved highly including Hannah Frost, Lohamithra Manjunathan, Emily White and Joseph Wilson who all achieved a range of grade 8’s and 9’s.
Special mention should be made of John Tailby who achieved 9’s, 8’s and A* despite being rushed to hospital part way through the exam period with a suspected burst appendix. John (who achieved a grade 9 for maths) actually sat his maths exam paper in intensive care the day after his operation.
Principal, Tony Pinnock said “I am delighted for both staff and students, who have put so much work in to achieving these results. At a time when there is great change in GCSE examinations it is reassuring to know that our students have still been able to achieve tremendously well.”
