Remembrance Parade – 11th November 2018 – Road Closure 10.45am

This notice is to advise you in advance of the Remembrance Parade and WWI end centenary celebrations taking place in Syston this November, which will necessitate in the closure of a section of Melton Road. A map below shows the exact closure points.
Approval for this event and subsequent road closures has been granted by Leicestershire County Council Highways Department.
Restricted Access Area(s)
Complete Road Closure:
*Melton Road from the mini roundabout junction with High Street up to the Memorial in Central Park (opposite Aldi) (diversion via Goodes Lane); Melton Road Car Park; Brookside
Half Road Closures:
* Albert Street; Wellington Street; Sandford Road; St Peters Street
Diversion – increased traffic
* Goodes Lane; Pembroke Avenue;Barkby Road
Hours effected:
10.45 am – 11.45 am
Likely Impact
* There will be an increased number of people in Syston before, during and after the procession
* Noise will be minimal
* Road closures/partial closures will reduce the amount of traffic in Syston during the morning
* Bus routes through Syston will be temporarily suspended/diverted
Parking for the public:
There will be limited parking available for the public. The Melton Road car park will be closed and all parking bays along the route will be temporarily suspended.
Accessibility for the public:
Syston Town Council, the Royal British Legion and Friends of St Peter and St Paul Church would like to make you aware of this event and to invite you to this community occasion. Should you wish to attend, we recommend that you do not use your car and stay on the pavement or at the Memorial in Central Park until the procession is over.
There will be a weekend of displays and events at St Peter & St Paul Church over the weekend of 10th and 11th November to remember the 82 Syston men who died fighting in this war. This is in addition to the Remembrance Parade taking place along Melton Road and at the War Memorial, Central Park on the morning of 11th November.
