New Barkby W.I.

Mrs Kerstyn Fryman, President, welcomed members and visitors to New Barkby’s November meeting.
A minute’s silence was held in memory of Mrs Mary Gamble who had passed away recently and also remembering two former members, Mrs Irene Stott and Mrs Olive Pegg, who have passed away. Afterwards ‘Jerusalem’ was sung.
Business matters were attended to, with notification of future events. The meeting then became New Barkby’s Annual meeting. Two tellers from Barkby and Beeby W.I. were Mrs K. Buck and Mrs J. Judd. Mrs Kerstyn Fryman was re-elected as President for 2019. Committee members will consist of Msdms J. Brutnall; V. Cobb; S. Franklin; D. Haynes; A Montague and President Mrs K. Fryman. The Treasurer presented the accounts.
The two tellers were each presented with a small gift from Mrs K. Fryman thanking them for their duties as tellers.
To put everyone in a ‘Christmas’ mood, Mrs A. Montague brought along a selection of bought mince pies. Everyone was able to taste portions of each, then place money by their chosen favourite pie. The money will go towards a chosen charity.
Everyone was reminded of the Institute’s 93rd Birthday Dinner to be held at Beedles Lake Golf Club on Wednesday, 21st November. There will be no meeting in December but there is a trip to see a local Pantomime.
The competition was ‘A Childhood item’. The winner was Mrs J. Oliver with a teddy bear. The raffle prize was a cookery book and was won by Mrs M. Clarke. The Tea Hostesses were Mrs J. Cross’ Mrs S. Franklin and Mrs J. Goulden.
Happy Christmas and best wishes to readers of Syston Town News for 2019.
