Every Child a Reader – with Jumpstart Dance

JumpStart Dance, based in Syston, are pleased to announce that they will be helping to make sure all children across the county and beyond have access to books and early literacy support throughout 2019.
The primary school dance specialists have teamed up with Story Imaginory, a Leicester-based social enterprise, who donate a minimum of 50% of their profits back to vulnerable families and children.
Louise Jaggard, Artistic Director of JumpStart, said: “We’re delighted to work alongside Story Imaginory during 2019. Our business believes in giving back to the local community and we can’t wait to begin supporting this amazing cause!”
During this coming year, JumpStart Dance will be running a series of events to ensure as many children as possible have opportunity to experience the delights of getting lost in a book.
The Jump2it! Dance Festival will be taking place at Loughborough Town Hall this March – 16 primary schools from across Charnwood will perform dances based on popular children’s books. Everyone taking part is being encouraged to donate a good quality second hand book as part of the ‘Every child a reader’ cause.
Watch out for more fundraising events, including a sewing bee, later in the year.
JumpStart Dance have been working in schools across Charnwood for over 11 years through teacher training events, after-school clubs and the annual Jump2it! Dance Festival. They work in conjunction with Team Charnwood, the local School Sports Partnership, to inspire primary-aged children and their teachers to participate in dance activity, keep fit and fight obesity.
