Free Tree Distribution

On Saturday 1st December, members of the public arrived at the Memorial in Central Park to collect Free trees.
The Woodland Trust in conjunction with Charnwood Borough Council (CBC) set up a project to provide free trees to residents of Charnwood in order to replenish our native trees and help protect our wildlife.
Our picture above shows Gareth and Sarah Johnson after they received their two saplings from staff. They travelled from a local village to take up the invitation and chose a Rowan and a Flowering Cherry tree. Some lucky people who who just turned up, also received a sapling or two. They said they thought it was a great idea to help protect our environment and help wildlife.
This was the first year of the project and they will return next year, with another offer which may include hedging plants.
So an behalf of everyone who received a free tree to help our native wildlife, we thank the Woodland Trust and CBC.
