Carnival Presentation Evening

On Friday 1st February members of the Carnival Committee held a presentation evening to distribute funds raised to local registered charities.
Around forty people attended the event in the Malt House Suite, including members of the new Syston Summer Fayre committee.
Bob and Meg Hendry, welcomed everyone to the evening and presented the cheques to the charities.
Jay Anderson, Chairman of the New Syston Summer Fayre committee thanked Bob and Meg along with Harold Screaton who was unable to attend the evening, plus other members of the carnival committee for all their hard work over the past 41 years. He then explained the role of the new committee and how he hoped the charities would continue to support the event in it’s new format.
He said that more details would be released as and when the committee had finalised the plans.
Mark Bodycot had brought along a bench which the Carnival committee had purchased in memory of Gill Moss, who had been a valued member of the committee as well as being involved with the Scouts and various other organisations in Syston. They intend to donate the bench to the Town and ask Syston Town Council to install it in an appropriate location.
Everyone enjoyed a light supper and chatted to one another.
Thank you to all the charity representatives who attended and to the organisers for a very pleasant evening.
