Local elections briefing proved popular

A session for people who are considering standing in the Charnwood Borough Council elections on Thursday 2nd May has proved a success.

Around 80 people attended the elections briefing session at Loughborough Town Hall on Tuesday 5th March.

The event offered candidates and agents an opportunity to find more about the election processes and arrangements. Candidates and agent nomination and support packs were also available for people to take away.

Geoff Parker, Returning Officer said: “I was pleased to see that so many people came along to find out more about the election process. I hope the potential candidates and their agents found the session useful and provided them with the information they needed and that their questions were answered ahead of the elections in May.”

If you were unable to attend the briefing and need a nomination and support pack please contact the electoral services office on 01509 634 612 or e-mail [email protected]

The deadline for nominations of candidates is 4pm on Wednesday 3rd April. The closing date to register to vote in the May elections is Friday 12th April. Please visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
