New Barkby WI

Mrs K. Fryman, President, welcomed members to the February meeting. ‘Jerusalem’ was sung.
After Institute matters had been discussed, members listened to a talk and watched a demonstration of ‘Book Folding’.
Instead of reading an old hard-backed book why not try book folding as demonstrated by Sageena Thakur (accompanied by her two daughters).
She showed us how to fold the pages of a book and, following a pattern, make someone’s name appear at the front of the folds.
Also she makes memory books consisting of photographs and attachments relating to a person’s life. Sageena recently made an album for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their family. Books and albums were passed around during the talk.
There was a question and answer time at the end of the talk and then Mrs A. Montague gave the vote of thanks.
The letter competition for the letter ‘B’, was won by Miss E. Lober with a small book. The Raffle prizewas won by Mrs D. Haynes and the Tea Hostesses were Mrs B. Gamble and Mrs J. Goulden.
The next monthly meeting will be Wednesday 6th March at Syston at 7.30pm at the Community Centre where will be a fun Auction. Visitors are welcome to attend.
