News from St Mary’s Church, Barkby

It’s a little late, but just to update you on our Christmas event ‘It’s Beginning to feel a lot like Christmas’.
Very many thanks to all the lovely people who visited us – we raised just over £4,900 over the two days for some much needed church repairs.
Also thanks are due to the many Syston businesses who supported our church raffle with some 90 prizes.
With so many people from far and wide visiting us we are struggling with setting it all up and if you feel you may be able to help either beforehand or on the day, please let us know, we would be most grateful.
On Saturday 9th February we held our annual Soup ‘n Sweet Saturday;   home-made soups with bread, a sweet and tea or coffee all for a fiver, good company guaranteed!  This event made £435.
Our next fundraising events are Saturday 1st June with another Band in the Barn event and then Sunday 23rd June with Barkby Hall Gardens open and a concert with the Cecillian Singers in the church in the early evening. Details of both in the next issue of the Syston Town News.
