Town C.C. Officers For 2019 and Website Additions

The Annual General Meeting of Syston Town Cricket Club was held at the end of January at Syston Social Club. Ivan Spibey will be continuing as Chairman and once again, in the absence of a volunteer, he will be undertaking the role of Secretary, as well. Ivan is also Sunday XI Captain so he has another busy year ahead. John Fraser will continue as Treasurer and son Iain will take over as Senior Coach. John Punchard will be looking after players’ welfare, Brian Sutliff will look after the bar as well as the under 11 hardball team and Andy Woolaston will continue as Social Secretary and also help to manage the under 13 team. Andy is already hard at work organising a repeat of the Ales & Bails Beer Festival in May which was such a great success last season. More details of this event will be published in due course.
Mo Pardesi and Dharmist Bathia continue as Captains of the 1st and 2nd XIs respectively, Dave Tebbutt, pictured left, will look after the under 15 team and Jay Dyer will manage the kwik cricketers. Full contact details for all senior and junior teams can be found on the club’s website
Players of all age groups young and old are always welcome so if you are interested please give Ivan a ring on 07711 139711.
Over the years I have gathered a wealth of information regarding the history of the club. Some is in the form of photographs which the Syston Local History Group kindly display at their annual exhibition every September. I have now consolidated most of the remaining data and posted it in the History and Archives section of the website. The archives now contain records of captains and officials, league positions, cup performances, averages, trophy winners and much more going back to the 1920s and I hope these are of interest to all members of the club and to the wider public in general.
