Charnwood WIGs

In our February meeting, we had a brilliant time learning about the art of willow weaving from our guest speaker, Brenda.
She gave us a fascinating insight into the different types of willow and how they can be used to create many practical yet beautiful pieces – did you know that there is evidence of willow basket weaving dating back to the Stone Age?
Willow has not only been used for making baskets and pieces of art, it is also known for its medicinal properties, having been used as an early form of aspirin!
We had great fun learning how to weave whilst creating our own ‘willow fish’ garden ornaments (including the rod) which gave our hands a good work out!
Why not come along and see what we get up to for yourself? We meet at 7:30pm at Beedles Lake Golf Club.
Thursday 30th May: Sausage Making – hands on!
If you would like to join us at any of our meetings to see what the WI has to offer, you’ll receive a warm welcome!
