Great British Spring Clean – Syston

Sunday 14th April  – 10.00am – 1.00pm
People of Syston are encouraged to become #litterheroes and help give our town a spring clean as part of a national tidy-up campaign.
The Great British Spring Clean is organised by Keep Britain Tidy and will be held across the country between 22nd March and 23rd April 2019.
Syston Town Council are inviting people to get involved and help us to tidy up our local areas on Sunday 14th April from 10.00am to 1.00pm. Syston Town Council, partnered by Charnwood Borough Council are providing free litter-picking equipment and organising the collection of rubbish and recycling.
The focus of this year’s campaign is to collect and safely dispose of single-use plastic, but the Council is encouraging people to help remove as much general litter from the community, recycling as much as possible.
The issue of single-use plastic has been well documented over the past few years. This is a great opportunity for communities to work together to reduce the amount of plastic and litter in the borough to help it look as beautiful as possible.
Syston Town Council would like to encourage organisations, clubs, schools, community groups and residents in Syston to take part.
If you are interested in helping us to give Syston a spring clean, contact Syston Town Council on [email protected] or 0116 260 7150 as soon as possible so that we know how much equipment is needed.
Charnwood Borough Council is being supported by partners Idverde which manages the Loughborough parks and Charnwood green spaces, and Serco, which runs the refuse, recycling and street cleansing service.
Schools are being asked to also get involved by taking part in the Great Big School Clean.
Keep Britain Tidy is offering schools that take part the chance to win £1,000 worth of school equipment.
We will be meeting on Sunday 14th April at the Council offices at 10.00am.
Please come along and help to make Syston a better place.
