Syston Girls’ Brigade Pancake Party

The Girls’ Brigade (GB) group in Syston celebrated Shrove Tuesday with a fun evening of pancakes and games on 5th March. As well as our regular members we were pleased to have three more children come to join our party, and we hope to see them again. They all showed great teamwork and determination to win during the egg and spoon race and said they “really liked the games” and “loved the pancakes” with a great variety of toppings to choose from.
We also had an opportunity to think about how fortunate we are to have all this food, and discussed how we can help those that are hungry. We linked this in with our support of a local food bank, which we visited last year as part of GB’s ‘give hope’ challenge and talked about how important it is to help those in need.
Joining a GB group is a great way for girls to make new friends and take part in exciting activities, and Syston GB is currently recruiting girls aged 5-12 years. We meet in the church hall at Syston Methodist Church from 6.30pm to 8pm on Tuesday evenings during term time and the cost is £2 each per week.
