Report on Sounds of Syston for Abigail

A packed upstairs room at the Brookside Club enjoyed a lively evening of music from the many talented Syston musicians who gave of their time.
The opening rock band set the tone and had people joining in with some of the well known, and loved, rock tunes. Chloe Richardson followed singing some wonderful songs. Mick Smith, well known local musician, played several songs form the 50’s and 60’s and was followed by Katie Jutson, another young singer, then Andy and Vicky. The group Understated followed, with a jazz selection on brass instruments and the evening concluded with the group Charlie’s Angels.
A selection of home made refreshments was available and an opportunity to continue buying the raffle tickets that had been on sale for a while. All the prizes were donated.
The event was well supported by local residents as well as Pukka Pies, Wilko, Tesco, The Continental Cafe, Syston Town News, Scott and Cathies Greengrocer and Gamble and Hollis Butchers. A real community effort.
The evening raised just over £1000 – a magnificent result!
Congratulations to Christian Adair and Ben Morgan for their inspiring idea.
