Ales & Bails Festival Great Success

Syston Town Cricket Club held its second Ales & Bails Festival over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend and it proved to be an even bigger success than last year. The club was once more indebted to Andy Woolaston for all the hard work he put in organising and running the event. Even Andy was surprised at the numbers attending on both days and his aim is to make the festival a regular event on the Leicester real ale calendar.
In total there was an excellent selection of nine local beers and three ciders on offer, all of which Andy had arranged to be sponsored by companies or individuals. The sun shone for most of the time and there were two excellent games of cricket to watch. Local musicians provided the entertainment on Saturday evening followed by DJ Izzy playing vinyl late into the night. On Sunday Syston Brass Band played in the afternoon before Izzy returned once more in the evening. Throughout the weekend there was something there for everybody and I’m sure Andy will soon be planning to make next year’s event even bigger and better.
