Syston Beavers Reach the Top

Last month five Syston Beavers Reach the Top award in Beaver Scouts (Bronze Chief Scout Award). Oliver, Riley, Kayan, Thomas and Harley received their Bronze award and now ready to move on to their next Challenge in Cubs.
Hooray, Hooray it’s a Beaver Holiday!
On the 6th July, 11 Syston Beaver scouts and a member of their families joined 260 others from around the Charnwood District for a Beaver and Parent Camp.
The camp was themed on Holiday locations around the world from Sunny Hawaii and Brazil to classic British holiday locations London and even Blackpool! The Beavers and their Parents experienced activities based on 10 different holiday locations from boomerang, Bread and dragon boat making to dressing up as Russian dolls and even playing in the sand.
The Fun and games finished off with a Tug-of-war Competition, Campfire and some bouncy castle fun!
Syston Cubs New Adventures, New Friends
From 5th to 7th July, Syston’s cub pack went on camp at the Oaks In Charnwood Campsite. With 16 cubs and four leaders, it was a brilliant weekend full of laughs and new adventures.
The group joined forces with nine other cubs from 86th Leicester (Buckminster) to make new friends and have accomplices in their activities which included a trip through the ‘black hole’ pitch-black maze, bouldering climbing wall, a jungle trail obstacle course, orienteering, grass sledging, and games in the wood by torch light.
Some of the cubs even conquered their fear of heights to scale the 40-foot climbing tower and ring the bell at the top!! The leaders couldn’t have been prouder to spend the weekend with such a lively and fun group of young people and look forward to more camps with them during the next few months.
