Syston QT Theatre Group

It was great to see so many friends, old and new, at our last play which we performed in May. “Murder by Default”, directed by Mark Smith, was thoroughly enjoyed by our audiences every night. We received lots of compliments about, not only the standard of the acting, but also the consistency with which we perform our plays, which was very nice to hear. We are very pleased to offer affordable live theatre to the residents of Syston and the surrounding area and we intend to continue to do so for many more years!
At our recent Annual General Meeting, there were a few changes to the Committee. After five years, I decided to step down as Chairperson and have handed the reins over to Gillian Bowler. I wish Gill every success in the role and I know that we shall all be in safe hands under her leadership. We said goodbye to Greta McManus who has left the group and also to Donna Gunn, who has stepped down from the Committee but still wants to perform with us. I have taken on the role of Secretary; however I shall still be writing the articles for STN as I enjoy keeping all our followers up to date with what we are doing. We also welcomed Liz Lynn onto the Committee.
Rehearsals are about to start for our next production which will take place at the end of November. I’m not going to tell you too much about it yet (keep them in suspense!) but I will say that the sub-title of the play could be “A Day in the Life of a Park Bench” and it is a real mixture of comedy, pathos and surprise! I have the honour of directing it and we are hoping to welcome back a face from the past to join the cast, and two new much younger performers. So there is much to look forward to for us all.
