Age UK Syston, Melton Road has held a cake sale at Santander’s Syston branch on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th July and thanks to the generous donations made, all monies raised contribute towards the provision of services for local older people and are much appreciated.
With special thanks to The Bay Tree Cafe Syston, Christine from Greggs in Syston and ASDA in Thurmaston, and of course the support of volunteers, Age UK Syston has been able to successfully raise vital funds for older people in Leicestershire & Rutland thanks to the kind donations that have been made by those in the community. We greatly appreciate this involvement and continuing support for the services we provide.
Age UK Leicestershire & Rutland is a local charity with a national name therefore monies raised benefit older people LOCALLY where it is needed most.
Our main aim is to develop sufficient and relevant services which mirror the needs and wishes of people living in Leicestershire & Rutland. With approximately 1,017,697 people living in Leicester, 160,502 are 65 and over, with 47,325 people who are 65 or over living alone. This is approximately one in every three persons who are 65 and over. With this in mind, we are committed to the welfare of older people and acknowledge their value as individuals, providing various opportunities for older persons to develop new skills and knowledge, build and continue friendships and to have their views listened to, accepted and acknowledged.
Thank you for all of your support in helping us to raise money from this cake sale which will undoubtedly contribute significantly towards benefiting older people in our communities. We are looking forward to the continuing support of our services.
