Town C.C. Officers for 2020

Syston Town Cricket Club held their Annual General Meeting in January at Syston Social Club. The meeting was well attended and despite the ground suffering severe damage due to the multitude of floods during the winter, members came away with a very positive attitude towards the season ahead. David Fox was once again re-elected as President and he will fulfil that role for the 26th successive year. Ivan Spibey will be continuing as Chairman and also, in the absence of a volunteer, he will also be undertaking the role of Secretary. John Fraser carries on as Treasurer, players’ welfare will be overseen by John Punchard and Brian Sutliff will look after the bar. Andy Woolaston continues in his position as Social Secretary and he is already hard at work organising the third edition of the Ales & Bails Beer Festival which will again be held in May. The first two festivals were tremendous successes and Andy is determined to make this year’s event even better. More details of the 2020 festival will be published in a future article. Mo Pardesi carries on his excellent work as captain of the 1st XI and Adam Mortimer will take over running the 2nd XI from Dharmist Bathia who did a splendid job in his three years in charge. As well as his other duties Ivan will continue to lead the Sunday XI and the photograph above features last season’s side with David Fox on President’s Day. James Howlett will carry on his excellent work as Burrough League captain. Steve Dealey will manage the U15 team, Atul Patel the U13 side and Adam Mortimer will look after the Kwik cricketers. Full contact details for all senior and junior teams will be available before the start of the season on the club’s website: www.systontowncricketclub.co.uk. New players of all age groups young and old are always welcome and Adam Mortimer will be pleased to take queries regarding junior cricket on 07791 326 819, and Scott Cooper will advise seniors on 07929 502 012.
