Birstall Golf Club is launching a membership and dining drive during March, April & May with the emphasis on offering a level of flexibility and activity not associated with the traditional view of golf clubs generally.
Discussing this major initiative the Club’s Development Director John Meachem commented “ the world of golf continues to change and it is vital golf clubs respond accordingly. Increasingly the club has been seen as part of the local Birstall community in recent times and this is something we will be encouraging going forward, particularly when it comes to enjoying our lovely dining room for coffee and lunch. Likewise on the golfing front many players still prefer having full membership of the club in the knowledge they can play in all competitions, enjoy the very active social side at Birstall and benefit from a significant discount on bar and food prices.
The all encompassing nature of full membership still holds great appeal amongst the golfing fraternity. However a new generation of golfers is coming through and due to work and family commitments prefer a more flexible and lower cost approach whilst still being able to play in certain competitions, enjoy the social side at the club and savings in the bar and dining room.”
Meachem commented further “During 2019 Birstall bucked the current trend on golf club membership and increased numbers on both the regular and flexible side and also saw a significant rise in House membership for non golfers.
Having introduced flexible membership in late 2018 Birstall was deemed to be the most successful club in the Midlands in 2019 by the scheme administrators PlayMoreGolf and ranked fourth in the UK overall. Whilst this was a great achievement by the club we were equally excited by the number of full playing members we attracted at a time when the trend in the industry generally was far from encouraging. Our 2020 initiative aims to build on the success of 2019 as we still have some limited capacity on the both the full and flexible membership categories.
What we are seeing is the ongoing evolution of Birstall Golf Club enabling not only golfers to use our facilities and lovely course but also the local community enjoying a lovely Sunday lunch, our Lunch Club for Senior Citizens and their friends and regular attractions such as quiz nights and summer barbecues. This 2020 initiative is the latest step in the continuing development of the club as an important part of Birstall and the surrounding communities.”
The membership initiative will run until the end of May and the 3 categories of membership available are –
Flexible Membership – £325.
5 Day Membership – £575
7 Day Membership – £800.
