Art for Pleasure Group

To anyone just thinking of taking up a new (or renew) a hobby or interest as one of their New Year’s resolutions, we hope you will come along and give our club a try. We are a small friendly Group with a common interest in painting and drawing, who also enjoy the social aspect provided by the club which meets at Thurmaston Community Centre, Silverdale Drive, Thurmaston weekly on Wednesday mornings from 9.30am to 1.00pm. You may come and go as you please between these times on the days we do not have instruction from visiting guest artists or tutors. This term confirmed artists to date are Mr Ian Risley, pastels workshop theme ‘Sunset in the Scottish Highlands’ on 29th February and Mr Tim Fisher, Acrylics workshop theme ‘Flower Painting’ on 13th March. Costs are as follows: £35 per term, which includes tea and coffee. New members may come for one* session free to assess whether they would like to join. If joining after the term has started charges will be on a pro rata basis. £3 Adult visiting friends of existing club members. £5 Adult visiting friends of existing club members for *Workshop sessions. £10 Adult outside visitors for *Workshop session mornings only. *Please book in advance. *To arrange a free taster session, book a workshop session or for further information, please telephone Lynn on 0790 687 1334. When in Syston, if you have time pop into The Bookmark, Melton Road who are now showing a permanent but ever changing exhibition of work for sale by our club and Syston Art Club or when passing, call in to Thurmaston Community Centre’s foyer where a new small selection of paintings by our Group is also on display and for sale. A charity donation from all sales at the Centre will be put into their New Building Fund for the benefit of the local community.
