Briefing session for General Election Candidates

A briefing session is being held for prospective candidates and their agents in the forthcoming parliamentary elections for the Loughborough and Charnwood constituencies. The session will take place at 6.00pm on Thursday 27th April at Charnwood Borough Council, Southfields Offices in Committee Room 1 and is open to anyone considering standing for election in those constituencies for the general election on the 8th June. The session will cover an overview of the election processes and arrangements and it should take no more than an hour-and-a-half. Candidate’s nomination and support packs will be available after the session. If you wish to attend or require further information please contact the Electoral Services Office on 01509 634 612 or e-mail [email protected] The deadline to register to vote in time for the general election is Monday 22nd May. Anyone who is not yet registered to vote should apply now at www.gov.uk/registertovote. Anyone who has registered to vote at local elections in May does not need to re-register in order to take part in the 2017 general election. The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5.00pm, Tuesday 23rd May. The deadline to apply for a proxy vote, where a voter nominates a trusted person to cast a vote on their behalf, is 5.00pm, Wednesday 31st May.
