Local Artist to give talk in Syston Library

Local Artist Felicity Austin will give an illustrated talk in Syston Library at 7.00pm on Tuesday 22nd February. The subject of Felicity’s talk will be ‘Paper Memories’ the title of her exhibition which is currently on show in the fashion gallery at Snibston Discovery Park. The exhibition consists of more than a hundred reproduction children’s clothes, dating from 1940 to 1970, all of which are made out of paper. Felicity will talk about the roots of this exhibition, demonstrate how she made some of the artefacts, and invite the audience to help create a ‘washing line of memories’ of their own childhood clothes, which will be displayed in the library. Even if you don’t think you’re artistic, Felicity will be on hand to help you create your own miniature garment. The talk will cost £2 which will be donated to Rainbows Hospice, and booking in advance is essential, as places are limited.
