SPOTLIGHT – MAY 2014

The Annual Town Meeting The Annual Town Meeting will be held in the Council Building on Tuesday 27th May 2014 at 7.00pm. The Town Meeting is held annually and gives parishioners the opportunity to raise issues with the Town Council. It is also an opportunity for the Town Council to inform members of the public about achievements during the preceding year and aims for the future. St Paul's CourtSyston in Bloom Syston in Bloom have once again entered the East Midlands in Bloom competition. With the help of council staff and retailers who have kindly sponsored our hanging baskets, Syston in Bloom will aim to make the town very attractive with imaginative flower displays this summer. Syston in Bloom are also producing a unique calendar for 2015 and you can help by submitting photos in their free competition. There are three age groups (a) 11 and below, (b) 12-14, and (c) 15-18. You need to be in full time education on the closing date which is 30th June 2014. Submit up to four photos on CD. Entry forms and rules are available at the office of Syston Town council, School Street, Syston. Summer events to be held on Central Park The UK’s newest and most magical circus is coming back to Syston and will be held on Central Park from 9th July until 13th July 2014. The annual Syston Carnival which is a great family day out will be on Central Park on Saturday 30th August 2014 and Billy Bates fair will arrive here again from 14th September 2014. Adult Exercise Equipment It has been agreed to purchase three pieces of adult exercise equipment and the Council have now to decide where to place this equipment in order to achieve the maximum benefit for the residents. Christmas Market 2014 We will be hosting a Speciality Christmas market again this year and it will be held on Central Park on Saturday 6th December 2014 from 11.30am until 5.30pm.
