The Hummingbird and the Bear
Local author Nicholas Hogg’s second novel ‘The Hummingbird and The Bear’ is a compelling story of passion and adultery, set against the back drop of the financial crisis. Sam Taylor knows he should be happy and content with his life as a high-flyer in the city and a beautiful fiancée. However, he still feels that something is missing. Then when he meets Kay an enigmatic American at a wedding in the Cotswolds he realises he has found someone who completes him. Works are due to take place in Cossington, by Leicestershire County Council on Platts Lane, which will entail the closure of that length of road whilst Carriageway and Kerbing works are in progress. During the closure, all through-bound traffic will be diverted via Syston Road, Main Street and Platts Lane as far as the works It is anticipated that works will commence on 06/ 02 / 2012 and last for 5 weeks. The Association has an evening meeting on Tuesday 14th February at Highpoint Conference Centre, 165 Glenfield Road, Leicester, LE3 6DP at 7.30pm. Stuart Crow, NT Operations Manager, will present an illustrated talk entitled “Woolsthorpe Manor – the birthplace of Isaac Newton” On Wednesday 22th February our afternoon meeting will be held at St Guthlac’s Memorial Hall, Holbrook Road, Leicester, LE2 3LF at 2.30pm when Ned Newitt will talk about The Leicester Slums.
