Grow, Give, Live
It’s April, and things are finally hotting up (or getting wetter depending on what nature has in store for us!).
March was a busy month; we held our second AGM at the Pharmacie Arms, where we updated attendees on what we accomplished in 2023 and what we plan for this year. It was lovely to see the interest in community gardening growing.
We have made a start clearing our allotment plot and getting ready for planting – we’re plot 73B – stop and say hello if we’re there! Thank you to Syston Town Council for their help with the clear up.
We have made significant progress at Scotia Press – the before and after photos above show how much effort has been put in to clearing the beds ready to create a growing space for edible produce. Thank you to everyone who has helped so far, and to Scotia Press for the hot drinks and rubbish disposal!
April sees the launch of our Big Spring Raffle! We already have prize donations from local businesses Delish and Papermoon; keep your eyes peeled on our Facebook page for prize updates and details of how to buy your tickets.
All proceeds go towards developing the growing spaces Grow Give Live maintain in Syston, which are all created to provide edible produce for the community. Last year, our planters at the community centre had a bumper crop of strawberries, cucumbers and tomatoes; it was great to see folks taking the ripe produce for a snack or to add to a meal (remember to wash it first!).
This year, we have more growing space, to produce more fruit and veg for the community; if you would like to be a part of what we’re growing, please get in touch on growgivelivesyston@gmail.com, and follow our Facebook page facebook.com/growgivelive/
