Grow Give Live
June is the month when everything seems to start happening in the garden; even though the weather has still been a bit patchy, that’s certainly been the case for Grow Give Live.
We hosted a lovely event at Delish for two to four year olds and their grown-ups; our Forest School Practitioner, Lou Jaggard, created a number of nature themed activities for the budding gardeners to choose from, including making seed bombs and yarn sticks.
Thank you to Dani at Delish for letting us use the beautiful courtyard garden at the café – do check it out if you haven’t already seen it!
We plan to hold more events like this over the summer, so keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram pages or email us to be added to our mailing list to keep in touch.
On a lovely sunny Sunday morning in early June, we planted up the flower beds by the Duck and Willow Café, see image below left, the flowers look stunning and will help bring in pollinators for the fruit and veg we have planted nearby.
Don’t forget to keep checking for ripe produce, there have been some super strawberries there already; all produce is free for the community, just make sure you wash before eating.
Our beds down at Scotia Press on St Peter’s Street are coming along nicely; we are very grateful to Issy Rose, who is completing her Duke of Edinburgh volunteer hours with us and is dedicated to weekly watering and weeding to keep the beds looking good, we couldn’t manage without her incredible support!
Finally, we have been enjoying our weekly Friday allotment sessions; there’s always plenty of weeding to be doing, as well as working towards the longer-term projects on the plot, including installing a potting shed for our winter plans!
If you want to join us, we’re on plot 73B, first on the left as you go in, from 10am to 12noon every Friday.
A warm welcome, cuppa and a biscuit are always on offer.
