Notice to Syston Residents

As recent events have shown, parts of Syston continue to be at risk of flooding during prolonged wet weather. As a result, town councillors continue to press the responsible authorities to take action to mitigate this risk.
Additionally, as part of our continuing commitment to help residents with this issue in any way we can, the council is reviewing its’ emergency plan to help residents during times when flooding may be expected. Part of this plan is to be aware of vulnerable people who live in flood-risk areas of the town in order for our flood wardens to target and prioritise those less able to help themselves in times of need.
If you live in a flood-risk area of the town and consider yourself or a member of your household to be ‘vulnerable’ i.e. unable to look after yourself in the event of your property being flooded and therefore likely to require assistance in the event of your property being threatened by flood waters, you can let Syston Town Council know in advance, who will then add your name and address to a list so that in the event, flood wardens will be aware during the early phase of flooding where to prioritise and pinpoint their efforts to help.
You can find out if you live in a higher risk area by visiting:

If you do not have access to the internet, you can ask at the Syston Town Council offices for help in finding out the flood risk for your property.
If you wish your name to be added to the list of vulnerable people at risk from flooding, please contact Syston Town Council by calling 0116 260 7150 or emailing
