Thurmaston Bowls Club
Thurmaston Bowls Club opened its’ doors to the public in May as part of the Bowls England ‘Bowls Big Week-end’ including a special game in aid of our Presidents’ charity.
We were visited by Joe Dawson-England Bowler and Steve Bacon and Tony Peverill Leicestershire Bowls, who lent a hand with visitors and potential new members to the club.
The weather was kind to us and we raised a further £30 for pancreatic cancer as well as welcoming two new members to the club.
In other news, we have reached the Finals in the ‘Leicestershire Parks Mixed Pairs’ competition, with semi-finalists; Paul Taylor and Monica Green and Kris Johnson and Sue Hughes vying for their finals place in July and our teams are in the finals of the Bramley Bowls competition. We wish them ‘the best’ in these competitions and say ‘good luck’ to all our members who are competing over the next couple of months in Club and Parks competitions.
We also have our annual BBQ and Presidents’ Day in August and a trip on the canal to look forward to. So if you would like to join us, why not drop in any Tuesday afternoon, 4.30-6.30pm at the Pavilion, Elizabeth Park, LE4 8FN or see our website – https://www.thurmastonbowls.co.uk for more details
Don’t forget, it’s just £20 registration fee if new to bowling. We have the equipment so just bring flat shoes.
