New Barkby WI

Dawn Haynes, President, welcomed New Barkby members to the institute’s Christmas meeting in December.
There was social time to begin with, enjoying tasty mince pies and sausage rolls, plus tea or coffee.
Members were able to reminisce about the 100th birthday meal at the Queen Victoria Public House/Restaurant. Each person received a copy of a 100 year anniversary certificate and a heart shaped plaque celebrating its milestone (ceramic created by a committee members relative).
After a brief business session, there was time for craft-making. Members used a small wire hoop, fed beads onto the wire and eventually attaching a pendant to it plus ribbon so that it could be used as a Christmas decoration. A busy and engaging evening.
Unfortunately, the speaker for January was unable to attend, so the institutes next meeting will be on Wednesday, February 4th 2026.
