Syston QT Theatre Group Prepares to Raise the Curtain on a Feel?Good Comedy Favourite

Excitement is already buzzing behind the scenes at Syston QT Theatre Group as rehearsals begin for our Spring production of Olivier and Tony award-nominee Peter Quilter’s much?loved comedy Curtain Up!
Long?time QT followers may remember that we last performed Curtain Up! back in 2014, when it received a fantastic response from audiences. This June, we’re thrilled to bring it back to the Syston stage — refreshed, re?energised, and packed with new surprises.
One of the biggest changes is the arrival of our new Director, Jo Gallagher. Jo has been a familiar face on the QT stage for several years, and we’re delighted to see her step into the director’s chair for this fast?paced, laugh?out?loud comedy.
We’re also proud to introduce a brand?new line?up of leading ladies.
Alongside some well?known QT performers, we welcome two talented newcomers — Margaret Glenn and Sarah Johnson — who bring a wealth of acting and comedy experience to the production. Together, they complete a truly stellar cast.
Introducing the cast of Curtain Up!:
? Ranata Maynard – Sharon
? Amy Hollis – Theresa
? Cathy Rackstraw – Pam
? Margaret Glenn – Betty
? Sarah Johnson – Jackie
And with Leigh White producing this year’s show, audiences can expect a polished, high?energy performance. Leigh and Jo make a formidable creative team, and they’re already shaping something special.
So, what’s in store? Curtain Up! follows five different women who unexpectedly inherit equal shares in a dilapidated old theatre. Thrown together by circumstance, they embark on a chaotic mission to save it from demolition. Their grand plan is to stage a star?studded fundraising concert — but with backstage blunders, clashing personalities, and a “famous headliner” whose identity must remain top secret, absolutely nothing goes to plan.
The result is a feel?good comedy full of sharp dialogue, big characters, and heart. If you enjoy quick wit, lovable chaos, and a guaranteed good night out, this is one not to miss.
Curtain Up! runs Tuesday 16th to Friday 19th June at The Old Chapel, Chapel Street, Syston, LE7 1GN. Tickets will be available soon — keep an eye on our website and socials for updates:
