Weight Loss Story from Weight Watchers
Carole Jones, from Syston tells her story of how she lost seven stone with Weight Watchers (WW). She started at 18 stone eight pounds and now weighs 11 stone. This is her own words:
In June 2015 I lost my dad who had been seriously ill with cancer for the past two years but I also had the most wonderful gift of my first granddaughter who was born two weeks after.

My husband suggested a holiday to re-charge our batteries and in October we jetted off to Cyprus, which may sound wonderful but as I stood in the queue at the airport, I was worrying if I would actually be able to fit the seat belt around my every growing stomach, as I did every time I boarded a plane. Then there was the issue of other people on the flight I would imagine them thinking ‘look at that huge woman trying to squeeze into the seat and down the aisle of the plane’. The flight was just the start of feeling awkward, would I break the sunbed? Was everyone watching how much I was taking from the buffet, how could I keep myself covered from leaving the sunbed to getting to the pool or if I was feeling very adventurous, the sea!
So despite me loving being away with my husband, relaxing and eating and drinking what we liked, there was always the anxiety about my size at the back of my mind. One thing stuck in my mind on that holiday, there were two glamorous ladies staying at the hotel and in the morning when I sat on the balcony with a tea and biscuit(s), they had donned their trainers and would go out walking/running before breakfast. During my time in Cyprus I thought I’ve got to do something about this, but how many times had I thought that and a few weeks later be back at square one … well not this time! So on the first Wednesday I was back I joined Weight Watchers (WW).
Going along for the regular meetings and also attending weekly fitness classes with Leicester Lisa in Syston has helped me along the way to lose 100lb (seven stone) and get to me goal weight.

It did take me until December 2018 but there is no going back.
I now have four granddaughters to keep me busy and I often think I couldn’t do all the things with them if I hadn’t lost 100lb (seven stone) and now I take my trainers on holiday with me for an early morning walk!
