SUMMARY:Commemorating the Anniversary of V. J. Day 80 years later
DESCRIPTION:The Parish Church will be hosting a ceremony on Friday 15th August to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the official end of WW2 in the Far East on 15th August 1945. There will also be an exhibition in the church about the war in the Far East.\nThe ceremony will begin at 11.15am on Friday 15th August\, at the British Legion commemorative stone which is near the main door of the Parish Church. If you would like to come\, please make sure you are there in good time\, as parking is restricted in that part of Syston. Wreaths will be laid by various people including The Deputy Chairman of Syston Town Councillor Satish Visavadia during the service.\nAfter the ceremony there will be the opportunity to look at the V.J. Day exhibition inside the church\, which will be open on 15th until 2.00pm. The displays include one board in honour of local people’s relatives who served in the Far East in WW2.\nThe exhibition will also be open in the afternoon on Saturday 16th from 2.30pm until 4.30pm and on Sunday 17th in the afternoon from 2.30pm until 4.30pm. Cream teas will be served in the church on the Saturday afternoon for those who want them\, but if you would just like to look around the exhibition that will be fine.
