SUMMARY:Colour Blast Dash
DESCRIPTION:The Colour Blast Dash – Leicester Sunday 29th April at Victoria Park – The Colour Blast Dash is a messy colour fun-run for all ages that takes place to support The Laura Centre\, a specialist bereavement charity. Having begun in 2014\, it offers a 2.5k ‘Rascal Run’ for those aged under 10 and a 5k run for those aged above. During the race\, runners will be blasted with powder paint and at the end there is a group paint release finale. Also on offer is an events village with food and drink stalls etc. The ‘Rascal Run’ ticket costs £11 and includes race entry\, a race number and a T shirt. The 5k ticket costs £21 and includes race entry\, a race number\, a T-shirt and a packet of powder paint. We also encourage participants to run as groups and so sell team tickets of four and more. The event begins at 9am\, with the ‘Rascal Run’ taking place first\, followed by the 5k run\, and ends at 12.30pm. As well as buying a ticket\, we encourage all participants to collect sponsors and fundraise for The Laura Centre using our fundraising partners which can be found online at – www.colourblastdash.org

The closure is to enable us to undertake the following work: \n\nInstallation of a new self-service kiosk to replace the existing out of date one\nInstallation of an upgraded version of Library Plus\, a system which enables customers to gain access to the library whilst it is unstaffed\n\nSyston was the pilot for Library Plus which is now being rolled out across the county\, but it still requires an upgrade to the existing system.  Staff will be putting up a notice to alert customers to the closure and will be contacting local groups who use the library.  \nMore information can be found on the Syston Library page on Leicester County Councils website and their social media feeds over the coming weeks.

DESCRIPTION:Police and Crime Commissioner Lord Willy Bach and Chief Constable Simon Cole have added a new element to the shopping list when they join forces to go on the hunt for local opinion at a ‘What Matters To You’ event. \nMembers of public will have the opportunity to meet the pair and members of the local policing team. They will be invited to share their experiences with those setting policing priorities and give their views on crime and public safety. \nThe event is being held at Asda in Thurmaston between 12.30-2.30pm on Tuesday 27 March. \nPublic feedback is vital to both the PCC and the Chief Constable as they seek to meet the policing needs and expectations of different communities and helps to influence where resources are allocated. \nWilly Bach said: “These are events enable a grass roots conversation between the public\, the Chief and I. They are always well-attended and is a great opportunity for a real two-way conversation. We all learn something. \n“Simon and I will be around throughout the afternoon to chat to people and talk about local concerns. It’s a really great chance for us to hear what really matters to people and what needs to be done to help.
