Barkby and Beeby WI

We had a very interesting and tasty meeting this month, courtesy of Gail Wooliscroft, who was demonstrating decadent desserts and I must say there was a lot of cream and chocolate involved – not to be found amongst the Slimming World recipes! Gail started with Waffle Berry Pudding, containing alongside the main ingredients, chocolate and full fat crème fraich, served with ice cream or fresh cream. This was followed by Lemon and Lime Crunch, containing much cream and full fat condensed milk. Feeling fat already? The third pudding, Strawberry Charlotte Russe, was a little less fattening as it only had 300 mls of double cream in it. I must congratulate Gail on these desserts as, having tried them all, I can safely say they were delicious. We also found out that red peppers are easier to digest and the ones with four knobbly bits on the end are male and with three knobbly bits they are female, and, of course, sweeter than the male ones. Did you also know that round lemons are more sour than oval ones? Me neither, but Gail is full of these snippets of information. After the demonstration we all had a taste of the desserts and Gail gave out recipe sheets which I am sure many of us will be trying out!
