Do You Know Your Favourite Composer?

David Kimmins took Barkby & Beeby WI back in time on a fascinating  trip down ‘Tin Pan Alley’ introducing traditional jazz music such as ‘Summertime’. 
He painted a picture of composers of the era, the origins of popular 20’s music, how it was marketed and published through song plugging and radio. He demonstrated how 4 bars of 2 familiar tunes were used in the making of ‘Yes, we have no bananas’.  One member guessed the tunes, the prize was a banana, two were purchased in case of a split!!
