Charnwood WIGs

In our May gathering, we were budding butcher’s apprentices as we hand a fantastic tutorial from Glen Lewin, proprietor of Sileby Butchers, which is the last remaining of four butchers in the village.
Beginning life as a fish and chip shop in 1910, the building has been a butchers since the 1930s. Glen gave a vivid explanation of having to move with the times as the business now has a Facebook page and always welcomes feedback from customers. With even more importance being placed on buying local nowadays, customers know exactly where the produce comes from, with a drive in supporting local farmers. Did you know that the most expensive part of a sausage is the skin encasing the meat?
Making a ‘hand’ of sausages was no easy task – likened to crochet by many of our ladies! All I can say is that they cooked up a treat!
Why not come along and see what we get up to for yourself? We meet at 7:30pm at Beedles Lake Golf Club.

Thursday 25th July : Flower arranging – make your own small floral arrangement
Thursday 29th August : Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People plus Handbag Amnesty
If you would like to join us at any of our meetings to see what the WI has to offer, you’ll receive a warm welcome!
