News from Bradgate Educational Trust

Since 2010 an increasing number of schools have become independent of the Local Authority’s control and have been operating as self managed academies. In more recent times academies have formed into chains called Multi Academy Trusts, these are known as MATs.
Within the Syston and Thurmaston area the majority of schools operate within The Bradgate Education Partnership Multi Academy Trust (known as the BEP Trust). The Trust also operates schools in Melton Mowbray and further along the A46 into the west of Leicester.
The Trust now comprises of 13 schools including 11 primary schools and two secondary schools. Wreake Valley Academy joined the Trust in September 2018 and the Trust relocated their Head Office to the Wreake Valley campus at the same time.
Reflecting on Wreake’s transfer to the BEP, Trust CEO Gareth Nelmes said; “Bradgate Education Partnership is committed to supporting and improving educational outcomes for all young people in the area. Having Wreake Valley Academy join us alongside The Roundhill Academy in Thurmaston provides for a great fit with our aim of offering an ‘all through’ education model in the area, for three year olds in our nurseries through to 18 year olds in our Sixth Form Centre.”
The Trust’s ‘all through model’ is about allowing schools to work together with our pupils and students over a longer period of time, developing the appropriate challenge and support to meet their needs over the lifetime of their educational journey and preparing them for their next steps.
One of the Trust’s current priorities is to develop and enhance the provision of Post-16 education in the Syston and Thurmaston area. With this in mind the Trust is committed to investing in the further development of Wreake Valley Academy’s Sixth Form and is working with the school to re-launch Post-16 provision from September 2019. Following the retirement of Assistant Principal, Belinda Nuttall, a new Head of Sixth Form has been appointed, details about this and further exciting developments will be announced in due course.
Mr Nelmes added “We are a thriving MAT that is continuing to grow, but our commitment remains to the provision of education opportunities for pupils and students in the local area.
It is vitally important that this provision includes high calibre Post-16 opportunities for local students too. We are delighted to be able to invest in Sixth Form education provision for the area and are confident that more exciting opportunities will be available to our students moving forward”
Limited places are available in some BEP schools. Admission enquiries should be made directly to each school, contact details can be found on each school’s website. Please refer to www.bepschools.org for details of schools in the Trust.
