Barkby Local History Group
In St Mary’s Church there is a stone plaque which records the names of six World War One servicemen from Barkby who died as a result of their active service. For the last four years the History Group has been researching the lives of these six men, and, on the centenary of their deaths, we have presented their stories in the church. The last name to be remembered in this way is Corporal James Edwin Taylor, and we will be telling his story in St Mary’s church on Wednesday 1st January 2020. We will be starting at 7.30pm and light refreshments will be available.
We would be delighted if you could join us: after all, perhaps New Year’s Day is a good time to reflect on the past?
