Helping Australian Bushfire Wildlife
If you, like us, have been affected by the fires in Australia and would like to help in some way, but maybe not by just giving money. Then we at the Stn have been in touch with the lovely people at the Alpaca Park Farm in Snarestone. You may have seen them on the local Television news in January saying that they were sending items out to Australia to help the wildlife there. As I know the people of Syston love to do their bit, here is a link to the facebook page run by UK Crafters for Australia, Patterns: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2526579050910692/files. Then to save scrolling through all the posts on the wall, (unless you want to) click Photos from the left side panel and you can see the different patterns for either knitting, crochet or sewing, you can then save the image and start making your chosen item. Although the news featured kangaroos and koalas there are patterns for birds, lambs etc. Once you have completed your item or items, please post or take them to the Alpaca Park Farm, Main Street, Snarestone, Swadlincote. DE12 7DB. There is a lovely tea room and wool shop so you can enjoy a visit to the Farm Park. Tracy, the owner of the Alpaca Farm Park also said they take donations for people in Albania who are recovering from several earth quakes that happened recently. If you have any children’s (age 5 yrs and above) and adult’s jumpers, hats or scarves you no longer need or you would like to knit some to donate then please send to the same address or take along to the Alpaca Park Farm.
