Pretty well as soon as Lockdown was announced a resident of Holmdale Rd, Katie Martin, pictured left with her children, organised a Facebook page as well as letting every resident have her mobile number in case they needed any help.
Thus was created a community of friends that has grown over the weeks. Virtually all the residents are in contact by one means or another and as there have been several new arrivals I am sure this has helped them settle into what is a great place to live.
A great effort was made to celebrate V.E. Day with houses decorated and most drives adorned with a picnic table covered with cloths and tea or coffee cups, sandwiches and cakes and of course beer, wine and spirits! Some residents wore red, white and blue others dressed in costumes of the times! See pictures above right. Games were chalked on the road for the children.
Katie has also organised a box for donations to the Trussell Trust charity which she takes to the Hub every Thursday afternoon. There have been boxes for book swapping too. Each Tuesday morning a Coffee2You van comes and dispenses drinks for people to take back to their houses or when the weather allows sitting in front gardens with a friend suitably distanced. And, of course, we have clapped every Thursday evening for the NHS!
Lastly, we have a brand new resident born to one of the residents to include in the family of Holmdalers!
