The Dog House Canine Spa in Barkby Thorpe has been shortlisted for the prestigious Animal Star Awards. The Dog House was established in 2017 and is going from strength to strength despite the current pandemic and are now finalists for the Pet Groomer of the Year category.
Run by Selina West and Anna Pollard The Dog House is up against some tough competition from across the UK. Selina says ‘We’re honoured to be listed as finalists, there is some really inspirational business across all the categories in the Animal Star Awards and it’s lovely to see our salon up there with them. The Dog House has been a true labour of love and we’re proud to still be here after such a turbulent year.’
During the Covid-19 Pandemic Anna and Selina have rallied to provide their clients with all the help and support they need to be able to maintain their dogs grooming at home. ‘We created a free ebook and brushing guides, we did a suite of videos to help our clients as well as 1-1 phone call and they all did an amazing job of maintaining their dogs coats’. Anna explained ‘We did quiz’s and an online dog show after our Daft About Dogs Day was cancelled and we raised over £200 for our local rescue’.
The Animal Star Awards was founded by Mary Burgess in 2016 because she wanted to recognise animals and humans alike for the extraordinary things that they do for one another from dog trainers to groomers to rescue centres and campaigners. The Animal Star Awards raises awareness for small animal charities and gives them support, not only financially but by raising awareness for the amazing work they do.
The winners will be announced on Sunday 28th March via a virtual awards ceremony.
