Due to the restrictions on social gatherings, Syston Town C.C. were forced to hold their Annual General Meeting via a zoom call in January. Nevertheless, the meeting was well attended and despite all the doom and gloom surrounding the pandemic, there was a very positive attitude towards the season ahead. However, the league have yet to decide what format this will take and it largely depends on when lockdown restrictions will be eased and the roll out of the vaccine.
The club will do whatever it takes to get the season underway in a covid-19 safe environment and we hope that scenes such as captured in the photograph on a lovely summer’s day will be repeated many times again this year.
At the meeting David Fox was re-elected as President for the 27th successive year. Ivan Spibey will continue in his dual role of Chairman and Secretary, John Fraser carries on as Treasurer, players’ welfare will be overseen by John Punchard, Brian Sutliff will look after the bar and as reported in the last edition, Andy Woolaston will be both Social Secretary and manager of the Sirens XI. Mo Pardesi and Adam Mortimer will continue as captains of the 1st XI and 2nd XI respectively and as well as his other duties, Ivan will continue to lead the Sunday XI. The Burrough League team will be a mixture of youth and experience with captain James Howlett at the helm. Dave Tebbutt will manage the U15 team, Atul Patel, the U13 side and junior co-ordinator Adam Mortimer will look after the Kwik cricketers.
