St Peter and St Paul’s Church News
Update
The parish church of St Peter and St Paul is open and has services on Wednesday mornings at 9.30 and Sundays at 10am. Everyone is welcome to attend. We ask that you wear masks and sanitise your hands on entry. We are currently not singing at the regular services, but we do have ‘musical moments’ during these services. It is hoped that the Parish Parochial Council meeting in September will make a decision regarding introducing singing during parish services.
We are continuing with morning prayer on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 9am, live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Syston-and-BarkbyChurches-105704911345624
We also invite you to our evening service of Compline at 8pm on Wednesdays. If you would like to join us via zoom please contact Reverend Biddy who will forward the link.
We are now taking bookings for baptisms and weddings and look forward to these celebration services. If you had to postpone your service, please do get in touch with Reverend Biddy to discuss plans for a refreshed time and date. There are no caps to the numbers who wish to attend, excepting the capacity of our church building! You are very welcome to discuss your future Baptisms, Wedding or Funeral. We look forward to hearing from you: revbiddysaunders@gmail.com

Currently we have been unable to restart either of these two services for children and young people. This has been due to a cautious approach regarding Covid restrictions. We will do all that we can to organise these as soon as possible.
Harvest Festival at St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church
This year we will be celebrating Harvest Festival on Sunday 19th September. The service at the parish church will be at 10.00am and all are welcome to join us. What better way to give thanks for the fact that we live in a country where we do not suffer an extreme climate and famines.
So do come and celebrate with us. Social distancing and other safety measures are currently practised at the church to enable the congregation to feel safe.
As a church we support a local food bank, so contributions to this would be very welcome.
Contributing to a food bank is surely one way we can acknowledge how fortunate most of us are.
Most of us have never experienced real hardship that leads to hunger.
We hope that the church will also be open to visitors who would like to come and see the Harvest decorations in the afternoon of 19th September from 3.00pm until 4.30pm. However, we are unable to confirm this at the time of writing, so please look for posters around the village and in the church notice boards for confirmation of this in September.
